Theme Day and my first post!

So today is my first post in the Daily Photo craze started by the great Eric over at ParisDailyPhoto. I thought, with it being theme day and all, that now would be the perfect time to jump in. I'll do my best to post a photo a day, hopefully I'll be able to keep up.

I had quite a few pictures to choose from for today's photo, as my son and I went with a friend and her kids to Grant's Farm. Grant's Farm was originally owned by General Ulysses S. Grant. I didn't catch everything the guide was saying owing to my 3 year old trying his hardest to stand during the tram ride, but I believe he said that Gen. Grant married into the Busch family (of Anheuser-Bush beer brewers). The farm was passed on to the Busch family and in the 50's Augustus Busch decided to open the farm to visitors after seeing the reactions of friends who visited. Grant's Farm is free to visit (aside from the $8/car to park), and houses animals from 6 of the 7 continents.

This parrot is part of the "Animal Encounters" show, and she's imitating the famous Anheuser-Busch corporate logo.

PS-if anyone knows how to edit or create new layouts for Blogger, please let me know. I really don't like the templates Blogger has to offer!

Why thank you! I'm just waiting to hear from Eric before I do anything else, as I know there's another St. Louis DP blog and I don't know if he wants to keep that one or not; it's been since December since that one has updated!

Hi Soosha

Welcome to the DP family -- Strangetastes St Louis DP has been active since March.

I'm not aware of any older St Louis DPs defunct or otherwise.

Mind you, there are many places with more than one DP so room for both of you!

jilly: Thank you. I visited your DP on theme day and thought your photo was beautiful as well!

ge: I hadn't even noticed Strangetastes' DP when I set up mine. Eric has another St.L DP listed somewhere down the page on PDP that hasn't been updated in ages, so I thought perhaps I could fill the gap. It's good that I'm sharing St. Louis with strangetaste, though, because of the way St. Louis is. He can cover the "city" and I can cover the "county" although many St. Louisans consider them both to be one big St. Louis area.
